NOTE: Last year Carin Bondar created a music video that delighted us by capturing the fun spirit of ScienceOnline2012. She’s back. And for ScienceOnline2013 we’re going Gangnam Style. Thx, Carin, for organizing this!
ScienceOnline2013: The Music Video
Hello Everyone!
I’m so looking forward to seeing you in North Carolina all in a few short weeks. As you may or may not know, I’ll be producing another music video this year. Since our time at the conference is so tight, I thought it would be helpful to give you all a few details about the music video in advance.
- We’ll be doing our own version of ‘Gangham Style’. It would be extremely helpful for you all to watch the video beforehand. Get to know the dance moves a litte, grab an outfit or two that you think could work. On Thursday evening we will be shooting a big group dance number (once everyone has had a chance to partake in a few ‘refreshments’).
- If you would like to be featured, let me know! I have lots of lines and parts for various characters and anyone is welcome to join in further. Again – having familiarity with the dance moves is key!
- If you DO NOT want to take part, that is completely fine as well. This is a volunteer effort and if you are not comfortable on camera that is absolutely no problem!
- Remember, this is going to be silly, fun and awesome. The geekier you can be, the better. If you see me walking around with the video camera, do something nerdy.

Uh, YES PLEASE. I’m trying to think of some way to include mammoths.
I will be wearing a large fluffy green insect suit on Saturday for my session. I’m sure that will be useful in the video….somehow.
I’m an ok dancer and, more importantly, have no pride left. I’d love to be involved.
I’m totally up for this.
I knew that musical theater minor I had in college would come in handy at some point! Count me in!
I have done a music video once or twice. Let me know what you need and I am in.
I love it – definitely in!
Count me in, too.
Dance, lipsynch, whatever. I’m there.
